Preserved Fishing Culture

This region, stretching between Nouakchott and Nouadhibou, is inhabited by the Imraguen people who are skilled fishermen using only traditional, sustainable methods. It is an UNESCO World Heritage Site, and crowded with all sorts of birds from flamingos and pelicans to migratory shorebirds and the largest nesting grounds in West Africa.
