The Elephant Mountains & The Fingers
This is a beautiful desert area known as Makhrougat. It’s a zone of interesting collections of rock formations, many which resemble recognizable shapes. Some of the mountains form natural arches and vertical gaps and crevices. This formation cluster is known as the Elephant Mountains. Similarly, another group of formations known as The Fingers are collections of rocks standing tall and thin, appearing to be fingers reaching up from the sand. This attraction is far out in the desert, on the road between Tichit and Oualata, and can only be visited on longer tours.
