Tour Inclusions & Exclusions
We price our tours transparently and work hard to ensure that you don’t have any unexpected surprises on your tour.
Please read our inclusions and exclusions carefully.
Group Tours
Group tours are fun and comfortable tours made up of individual travelers and small groups. This allows travelers to meet and share stories over the course of the tour, while benefiting from the lower pricing that a larger group would have if booked privately. Group tours are subject to the following inclusions and exclusions.
How Group Tours Work
- Group Tours are guaranteed to depart with at least 1 guest (except for tours going into the Tagant region which require 3 guests minimum)
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included for all tours from the time you leave Nouakchott until you return
- Meals on the designated arrival day, and dinner on final day not included (see exclusions)
- Transportation, guide, and driver are all included with the list price
- No more than 3 guests per vehicle, so all guests have a window seat
- We arrange 2 guests per room at hotel and guest house bookings, but guests can receive their own single room for a €160 supplement (this covers all nights of the tour)
- Once you’ve made your booking request, we request a 50% deposit of the trip price to officially confirm your spot–deposits can be via bank transfer to our bank account. Please read our payment and cancellation policies.
Group Tour Inclusions
- Pick up and drop-off to/from NKC Airport
- Conditions: if arriving between 10:00 and 22:00 on the designated arrival day, and departing on the tour end date
- Chef-prepared meals each day (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
- When staying in a guest house, breakfast and dinner will likely be provided by the guest house services where available
- Exceptions: meals in Nouakchott and Nouadhibou are not included, except for hotel breakfasts provided by included hotel accommodations; please do not put additional meals on your hotel bill in these cities
- Plenty of water per day (~1 liter every 2 hours)
- All hotel and guest house costs throughout the tour (applies only to our bookings, not your own)
- This includes your arrival night hotel on Day 0 of the tour (the night before the tour’s start date), but it does not include a hotel on the final day of the tour, as the tour is considered complete upon arrival back to Nouakchott
- Thoroughly maintained and inspected 4×4 truck(s)
- All petrol costs included
- Emergency vehicle services or replacement in the unlikely event of a breakdown
- Driver, chef, and a guide who speaks the language most preferred by the group (usually English)
- All overnight and camping materials
- We provide nomadic tents that sleep up to 4 persons, plus a cot, sleeping pad, and bug net for each guest
- Exception: a personal sleeping bag is not provided; we recommend bringing one if traveling between Oct and Mar, as temperatures may reach as low as 7°C/45°F at night
- All park entrance fees, local guide costs, insurances, and taxes for police and military checkpoints within the country
- Day-use of a hotel on the trip end date for guests to shower and rest before their departure flight if time permits

- Airfare
- Visa entry fees
- Souvenirs or guest budget for extra snacks or beverages
- Any meals in Nouakchott or Nouadhibou
- Any additional hotels in Nouakchott (other than the night of the tour Day 0, unless we specify otherwise)
- Any airport transportation required outside of our included time—but we offer private car transportation for €30 per instance
Private Tours
Private tours are configured to the personal needs of a single party. While they cost more per person than group tours, the booking party can customize their itinerary and accommodations to their liking. Private tours offer more flexibility and control of your tour, and allow you to play with the travel times along your route so that you can spend more time in the places that pique your interests as you go. Pricing for private tours scales down per person as the total group size goes up. - We offer a preferred rate of €80/night with Hotel Le Berger (regular €100/night) if you want to include your arrival night hotel stay in your total trip cost—otherwise you are welcome to make your own hotel booking arrangements for your arrival night before the full tour starts
- We do include day-use of a hotel on the trip end date for guests to shower and rest before their departure flight if time permits
- Any airport transportation required outside of our included time—but we offer private car transportation for €30 per instance
